ECHO III: For Memory's Sake is an arts and heritage project that aims to bring together artists working in the fields of theatre, music, visual arts, and literature in order to explore tradition and culture through the themes of marriage in the Balkan context.
In March 2023, six artists from Romania, Rep. Moldova, Greece, Bulgaria and Albania participated in the audio-visual creation residency, organized in Bucharest, at Rezidența9. The resident artists created four video-poems about love, arranged marriage and gender relations, after two weeks of working with Letitia Popa and Cristina Iliescu.
The project developed both a theatre play based on a contemporary satirical novel, as well as a series of economical education workshops for teenagers. The aim of the project was to deconstruct popular ideas about economics, and to debunk mainstream ideas put forward by „How to become rich?” self-help books.
